In the Footsteps of Alexander: A Moment at Siwa

Alexander at Siwa is one of the most powerful historical experiences I have ever had. Siwa is the only place on earth where we can say, without doubt, that Alexander the Great once walked.

The stone steps leading to the Temple of the Oracle have borne the weight of centuries: pilgrims, pharaohs, presidents. All drawn by mystery, legend, and something more ancient than memory.

Today, I take those steps alone.

Not because I sought solitude, but because—by some quiet twist of fate—no one else is here. The wind holds its breath. The sky is a flawless blue. And the ruined stone around me hums with echoes.

To stand where he once stood—more than two thousand years ago—is to feel history shift from myth to presence. There are no plaques or reenactments, just this: silence, sunlight, and stone.

Words fail. And perhaps, that’s the point.
